ERROR: Shipment is in an Invalid State
Error Message
ERROR: Shipment is in an invalid state. [RESOURCE_TYPE: SHIPMENT] There's an input error with the resource.
Cause
This error is returned directly by Amazon and indicates that the shipment has entered a state where Amazon no longer allows additional actions to be performed on it through the API.
This can happen if:
The shipment has become locked or is no longer editable in Amazon.
The shipment is in an unexpected or inconsistent state.
Amazon has already finalized or modified the shipment internally.
The status of the shipment may have been updated to "In Transit" state but the transportation option has not been confirmed yet.
The shipment can no longer accept additional API requests.
Since this validation comes from Amazon, ScanPower is unable to override or modify the shipment state.
Resolution
If you receive this error while working on a shipment, try the following steps:
Option 1
Contact Seller Central to update the status of the shipment back to working and try progress it again.
Option 2
Download the pack list from the current batch (if applicable).
Cancel the existing shipment plan.
Create a new shipment plan.
Upload the previously downloaded pack list.
Continue processing the new shipment.
In most cases, creating a new shipment plan resolves the issue.
Option 3
If you do not want to recreate the shipment immediately:
Log in to Amazon Seller Central.
Check whether the shipment can still be edited or completed there.
If the same error appears in Seller Central, contact Amazon Seller Support for assistance.
Why This Happens
Amazon manages the lifecycle of every shipment. Once a shipment reaches certain internal states, Amazon blocks further API updates to prevent inconsistent shipment data.
Because the restriction is enforced by Amazon, ScanPower cannot modify or unlock the shipment.
