QZ Tray Direct Printing Updates

Unable to print directly via Zebra, Rollo

Summary

On April 7, 2026, Chrome will upgrade to Version 1.4.7 and your browser will require permission to connect to local printers through QZ Tray. The implementation of Local Network Access (LNA) in Chrome 147 and higher changes how web applications interact with applications like QZ Tray.

Previously, ScanPower silently opened a WebSocket connection to localhost, however, starting with Chrome 147 (April 2026), modern security policies now treat these connections as a security risk and will prompt the user.

Steps to Fix

Open Setting -> Prep & Ship. When the message appears "unity.scanpower.com wants to Access other apps and services on this device" click Allow.

The change should persist even if you restart the browser.

The Access pop up appears on Chrome, Firefox and other browsers.

  • On Chrome, Click Allow to print the labels when prompted to continue.

  • Firefox has a similar permission prompt, but with a checkbox to "remember this decision".

  • Safari has not made any official announcement however Apple already imposes Local Network restrictions at the OS-level.
