The update of Chrome to Version 98.0.4758.81 has caused printing issues with our ScanPower software and the Dymo Web Service on the Mac OS. This article details temporary workaround options until such time as we are able to deploy a permanent solution.

VERIFIED SOLUTION (updated 3/10/2022)

This solution supports direct printing (bypassing the print dialog) for ScanPower users operating Mac OS and Dymo Printers in the Chrome browser.

  • The solution only supports 30334 and 30252 label sizes.
  • The solution does NOT support separate expiration date labels. It does, however, allow for the expiration date to be printed on the label (if the setting is enabled).

Step One: Stop the Dymo Direct Printing Service

If the Dymo Direct Printing Service is running, it must be stopped. (You may have done this already as part of another workaround, but be sure.)

  1. Locate and select the Dymo logo in your system tray (typically in the upper right-hand corner of your screen).
  2. Click Exit (the Dymo icon should disappear from the system tray.
  3. Note: You can disable startup (keeping the Dymo web service from starting again) with one of the following terminal commands:
    1. sudo rm /Library/LaunchAgents/com.dymo.dls.webservice.plist
      enter Mac password
    2. sudo launchctl stop com.dymo.dls.webservice.plist
      enter Mac password

Step Two: Install QZ Tray

  1. Download and install

Step Three: Exit IL Print

  1.  Select the "IL Print" icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Exit the service.

Step Four: Save Printer in ScanPower

  1. Login to ScanPower to save settings in List ( and BoxT ( to save the printer in your settings.
  2. When the page loads, you may see this notification that ScanPower wants to connect to QZ Tray. Select "Remember this decision" and "Allow."
  3. Select your printer and make sure correct label size is selected then SAVE settings.

Your item labels should now print via the direct printing function (bypassing the print dialog box). Contact SUPPORT if you have any trouble or would like assistance with this process.

Behavior associated with this issue includes:

  • BoxT, BoxT Settings, and List Settings pages will not load (become unresponsive. Other pages, such as Scout, List, Help load without issue.

  • When trying to select the Dymo printer in List Settings, the page becomes hung up:
  • The inability to print item (FNSKU) labels from ScanPower in the latest version of Chrome on Mac OS.

This Issue Only Affects Users with the Combination of

  • Mac OS
  • Dymo Web Service
  • Chrome Version 98.0.4758.81

Temporary Workarounds

Option One: Continue Using Chrome

If you would like to continue using Chrome, we have come up with a workaround that allows you to manually print the FNSKU labels with as few clicks as possible. Here are the steps to follow for this option.

  1. Quit Dymo Label Web Service
    1. Locate and select the Dymo logo in your system tray (typically in the upper right-hand corner of your screen).
    2. Click Exit (the Dymo icon should disappear from the system tray.
  2. Open Terminal
    1. Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, type Terminal in the search field, then click Terminal
OR, In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, then double-click Terminal.
  3. Disable Chrome Print Dialog
You will paste the following command at the Terminal prompt to disable Chrome print dialog and force printing through the system print. Copy the following line exactly and paste it at the prompt.

    defaults write DisablePrintPreview -boolean true
  4. Restart Chrome
  5. Print FNSKU Labels Manually in BoxT
The first time you print a label, you may have to use the print dialog box to configure the label size and formatting ton fit. Once you have it corrected, the settings should save for subsequent printing.
    1. If you have print on scan enabled, you may just scan items as you pack, but you will have to click PRINT in the System Dialog as you go.
    2. Or, you may select the printer icon for your respective items and PRINT through the System Dialog.

Option Two: Use Firefox

The second option is to switch to Firefox for all or part of your process.
